Sheriff’s Office makes largest fetanyl, meth bust in county history

On Jan. 20, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) added another accomplishment into the history books by seizing 1.6 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.8 ounces of powdered fentanyl. “This is the largest seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Citrus County’s history. The amount of fentanyl seized could have killed hundreds of people,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast.

Singled Out?

Janice Tuten of Hernando accused Citrus County Commission Chairman Brian Coleman of singling her out in a recent action in which, she said, the county’s Code Enforcement department took her mobile home, possessions and an adjacent structure from her property. (December 16, 2019)

Hernando teen’s shooting under investigation

On Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to North Blue Bream Terrace in Hernando in reference to an accidental shooting involving minor siblings.
