Mobile home burns in Hernando

No injuries were reported during a mobile home fire on Monday in Hernando.
 
Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue on Friday was dispatched to the structure fire at 7139 N. Nature Trail, where they found a single-wide mobile home with fire and smoke showing.
 
The structure was fully involved with fire. 
 

Smoke alarms awaken resident just in time

Smoke AlarmWorking smoke alarms are credited with helping a Dunnellon resicent and her dog escape injury early Monday morning after a fire broke out in their home.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters on Monday were called to the scene of a residential home fire at 2:59 a.m. at 4171 West Ranchetta St. in Dunnellon.

Upon arrival, Engine 9 from Derosa found a double- wide manufactured home 50 percent involved in fire.

Detectives investigate racial slur on Citrus Hills Home

This blurred-out racial slur was spray painted across one site of a home in Citrus Hills, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case involving a racial slur spray-painted in large letters on the side of a home in Citrus Hills.

Deputies who responded to the call at 7:05 a.m. saw that the slur covered  the entire side of the home. A neighbor phoned the communications center, the CCSO said, thinking that the residents of the home were on vacation.

The homeowners, who are black, were in fact home. A neighborhood canvas was then performed, which yielded no results.

Citrus County Sheriff's Fire Rescue responded at 5:18 a.m. to the fire at 6335 S. Tropicana Ave.
 

Separate fires damage two mobile homes

Two separate fires, one on July 4 and another on Wednesday, heavily damaged two mobile homes.
 
No injuries were reported in either fire.
 
On July 4, firefighters were called out to 6328 S Applebud Terrace in Lecanto. Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived on scene to find a doublewide mobile home 95 percent  involved with fire. 
 

Fire claims Lecanto mobile home

 
A Lecanto mobile home was lost on Tuesday during a fire at about 3:02 p.m. at 7281 S. Dayton Point.
 
There were no injuries in the blaze.
 
Firefighters from the CCSO Division of Fire Rescue found the approximately 1,500-square-foot fully involved in fire with additional vehicles and equipment surrounding the home in immediate danger
