Citrus County voters choose their favorites this primary election

Citrus County voters on Tuesday voted for their favorite candidates during the Aug. 23 primary election.

According to the Citrus County Supervisor of Elections, there are 120,239 registered voters and 31.43 percent of them turned out Also, 137,789 ballots were counted.

All votes have been counted in all 31 precincts, including votes by mail and early votes.
Below are the unofficial results in Citrus County:
District 12, U.S. House of Representatives (Total votes cast: 22,906)
  • Gus Michael Bilirakis (REP)  76.28% (17,473 votes)
  • Chris Leiser (REP) 5.39% (1,235 votes)
  • Jack Martin (REP) 11.11% (2,544 votes)
  • Brian Perras (REP) 3.96% (906 votes)
  • Sid Preskitt (REP) 3.27% (748)
Commissioner of Agriculture (Total votes cast: 22,942)
  • James W. Shaw (REP) 29.32% (6,726 votes)
  • Wilton Simpson (REP) 70.68% (16,216 votes)
District 23 State House of Representatives (Total votes cast: 35,090)
  • Tod Cloud (REP) 25.13% of the vote (8,817)
