Zika funding on Congressional docket

We’ve got a few big items for you this week:  House passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, the Military Construction/VA appropriations bill and a significant federal resource package to combat the impending Zika threat.

I’ve talked plenty in recent weeks about the Defense Authorization, so I won’t take up your time with it at this time.

Navy Seaman Miller completes basic training

April 9, 2014 (FHTNC) -- Navy Seaman Eric S. Miller, son of Bradley S. and Rose A. Miller of Inverness, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Miller completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

If you’ve been receiving this newsletter for a while, you know how bewildered and frustrated I was that Congress decided to cut military pensions in the first place. I voted against it twice.
