Citizen Alert: Recent rise in truck thefts

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says that, during the past several weeks, deputies have seen an increase in thefts of Ford F250/F350 trucks in the area.

Argument leads to battery, attempted murder charges

A Homosassa man was arrested on Sunday and charged with striking his girlfriend and the attempted murder of a man the couple had met at a Homosassa bar.

Arrested was Nicholas Austin McGahen, 27.

McGahen'a alleged victims were his girlfriend, Brittany Hatfield, 29 of Homosassa and an acquaintance of the couple, Homer Perry, 58, of Crystal River. Hatfield suffered a swollen lip, and Perry was taken to Shands in Gainesville for treatment of his injuries.

Hospital governing boards building consensus

The governing boards of Citrus Memorial Hospital on Monday continued building consensus toward the eventual lease of the CMH to Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).

The boards had meetings scheduled on Monday to discuss signing a Master Settlement Agreement.

Updated: CCSO finds wanted suspect dead

Deceased: Daniel Wesley CombsCitrus County Sheriff's Office deputies on Sunday found 52-year-old Daniel Wesley Combs deceased in Inverness.

The CCSO said that foul play is not suspected.

Marion County man nabbed in Inverness by U.S Marshals

U.S. Marshals on Friday nabbed a Marion County man in Inverness after an apparent pawn shop armed burglary in Marion County.

Arrested was Earl Wayne Abbey, 33, of 11598 S.E. 60th Ave. in Belleview.

Earl Wayne “Squirrel” Abbey surrendered to Citrus County sheriff's detectives, a K-9 unit from the agency, together with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, at 4076 East Ryan St. in Inverness at around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

CCSO looking for wanted suspect

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is actively looking for 52-yearold Daniel Wesley Combs of Inverness.

Combs is wanted on the charges of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping while armed and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm with a weapon.
