Most people support tourism in the county, let's admit it that when others come here and spend their money it helps create jobs and benefits our community, so why not support it.

A FEMA representative appeared before the Citrus County Commission to ask the county to advise residents and businesses to submit claims from any Hurricane Irma-related losses they incurred from the storm.

Israel Peres, FEMA Intergovernmental Affairs representative, asked commissioners to remind county residents and businesses to file claims for damages and losses incurred during Hurricane Irma.

BOCC finalizes legislative agenda

The Board of Citrus County Commissioners on Tuesday finalized its agenda it would like state legislators representing Citrus County to address in the Legislature.

The list is compiled base on what county commissioners would like to be done to help the county at the state level.

The list includes:

County approves Crystal River Airport master plan

Tom Davis, Citrus County aviation pioneer

The Citrus County Commission on Tuesday approved the updated master plan for the Crystal River Airport.

Commisioners approved the long-range plan, which reaches into 2027, unanimously.

The FAA recommends updating the Airport Master Plan (with the Airport Layout Plan) every five to 10 years, or sooner if significant changes have occurred at the airport. 

County workshop eyes tweaking Land Development Code


The Citrus County Commission on Tuesday began the first in a string of workshops that look to improve the county's Land Development Code.

The commission consensus was that the code did not need to be rewritten, but tweaked.

Sheriff's Office gives tips to prevent disaster fraud

CCSO starThe Citrus County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of LEGITIMATE contract inspectors in the county conducting inspections on behalf of FEMA for disaster claims.

Because of the potential for disaster scams and frauds, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office wanted to put some helpful tips out to protect residents, or someone they care about, from disaster fraud:
