The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 27 proclaimed the week of March 11 through 17 as Women Veterans Recognition Week.

Florida has the third largest population of women veterans in the United States, being home to 154,000 women veterans making up more than 9 percent of the veteran population in Florida, and Citrus County is home to over 1,500 women veterans.

Citrus County recognizes the tremendous sacrifices of women veterans while in uniform and joins the State of Florida and the nation in honoring the invaluable impact that women veterans make both locally and throughout the world.

The Board of County Commissioners recognizes March 11 through 17, 2018 as Women Veterans Recognition Week in Citrus County and calls the observance to the attention of all citizens.
