Veterans Service Officer post likely to remain as-is

Despite all the recent talk about the Citrus County Veterans Officer's position in the county government hierarchy, it appeared on Tuesday that county commissioners have decided the position should not be elevated from where it is in the organizational structure.

Certainly, commissioners said, not to the level of a directorship.

VSO hours change

The hours of the Citrus County Veterans Service Office have changed.

Effective April 17, scheduled appointments and walk-in clients will be seen from 8 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Anyone wishing to meet with a Service Officer between 4 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday should call to make an appointment, because walk-ins will not be accepted during these hours.

For more information or questions, call the Veterans Service Office directly at 352-527-5915.

Veterans and the Veterans Service Office

I want to use this article to talk about an issue that should be addressed as it affects approximately 28,000 veterans and their families -- the issue is our veterans service office.
