Florida Governor Rick Scott made an appearance today at the National Guard Armory in Crystal River to honor veterans.

Gov. Scott presented all of the veterans in attendance with the Governor's Veterans Service Medal.

Many veterans were on hand to receive the medal, including many Citrus County Sheriff's Office employees. Speaking with evident sincerity, the governor expressed his gratitude for all of those who have served our country.

Sheriff Mike Prendergast is very passionate about our veterans and was on hand to shake hands and thank everyone there. 

For Fire Services: The way forward is backward

Six years after calling on then-Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy to take over fire services from the county, the Citrus County Commission has called it back into the fold.

The commissioners voted 4-1 on Tuesday during a special meeting to take fire services back, after complaining they had received little or no information that board members had requested.

PSC Commissioner Polmann begins term

Commissioner Donald Polmann today began serving on the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC), which regulates the state’s investor-owned electric, gas, and water and wastewater companies.

He was appointed by Governor Rick Scott for a four-year term ending in January 2021.

Sen. Dean to file bills related to Duke, PSC

State Senator Charlie Dean (R-Inverness) today announced his intention to file two bills related to Duke Energy and the Public Service Commission for the 2015 Legislative Session.

"As I said at my appearance before the Public Service Commission at their hearing on the meter rerouting issue, I am committed to sponsoring legislation to address this issue as well as the ongoing issue of Nuclear Cost Recovery," Dean said.

PSC OK's amended nuclear cost recovery rules

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved amendments to the rule that establishes an alternative cost recovery mechanism for nuclear power plant construction projects.

The rule amendments implement changes to Section 366.93, Florida Statutes, enacted by the Legislature during the 2013 session.
