'Save Ozello' effort targets rezoning push

Ozello, Fla. -– "Yard Sign Army" has donated 50 “No Re-zoning” yard signs to the "Committee to Save Ozello."

The signs went quickly at the Committee’s June 17 meeting.

The yard signs are intended to amplify residents’ objections to a Tennessee developer’s application to rezone property from residential to commercial in order to build a multi-use complex.

Work has begun on Ozello Trail Bridge Hurricane Hermine repair

The first bridge west of John Brown Drive on Ozello Trail will have intermittent, minor repair work done over the next 30 days.
 
Drivers are asked to use caution, as there will be flagmen in the area and one-lane traffic when work is in progress.

Man climbs Ozello water tower, but can't get down

Citrus County Fire rescue on Saturday rushed to rescue a man who, after climbing the Ozello water tower, couldn't get back down.

County denies rezoning for Pirate's Cove in Ozello

The Citrus County Commission unanimously voted on Tuesday night to deny an application by Ozello landowner George Decker to rezone his property on Pirate's Cove to commercial.

The consensus of the board was that the proposed project to build a four-story, 70-room hotel on the site was incompatible with that area.

After hearing from Decker's attorney and land-use expert, the commissioners discussed the matter.
