Johnny S. Simpson

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office's campaign to stop the countywide thefts of Ford F-150 trucks spilled over on Friday into Marion County.

Deputies began a high-speed chase of a Ford F-150 in Citrus County, which ended up on State Road 200 and headed for the Oak Run retirement community in Ocala.

Citrus County deputies were then joined by deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's office in the chase, and eventually the blue, 2007 Ford F-150 crashed into the lane divider at the entrance of the Oak Run subdivision.

Legislative Session continues in Tallahassee

State Sen. Charlie Dean

Work continued this week in Tallahassee, with the Florida Senate meeting in committee and on the Floor.

I was especially excited to have my first bill of Session, Senate Bill 106, Relating to County Employees, heard on the Floor this past Tuesday.

I believe this bill will restore some home rule authority and flexibility for our counties, and I look forward to passing it out of the Senate next week.
