The issue of mandatory garbage collection in Citrus County may be knocked down for now, but it's certainly not knocked out.

The Citrus County Commission will revisit the issue in the coming months, so residents will have to stay tuned (August 22, 2017)

The Citrus County Commission seems to have taken a softer stand on the issue of mandatory garbage collection.

Garbage collectionThe Citrus County Commission on Tuesday seemed to take a softer stand on the issue of mandatory garbage collection.
 
Discussion among commissioners ranged from topics about the possibility of using a regional landfill based on a study recently completed -- but deemed by Commission Chairman Scott Carnahan to be useless since the plan will not be used -- to space left in the county's landfill to flow control.

The Citrus County Commission has begun to steer the county conversation toward universal garbage collection, moving the county recycling center to a newer location and curbside recycling.

But nothing has been decided, and more conversations have been promised by the commission (February 14, 2017)
