There are approximately 30 collection vehicles working daily in Citrus County. 

FHP seeking hit-and-run vehicle info in Lecanto fatal accident

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking help in identifying and locating a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred Friday night in Lecanto.

Citrus County Sheriff's office deputies assisted troopers with the accident that occurred at the intersection of West Southern Street and South Fairland Terrace in Lecanto at approximately 10:20 p.m. Friday.

Withlacoochee observed as slowly receding

Withlacoochee River SignThe Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday reported that Withlacoochee River flood warnings are still in effect.
 
As of 8 a.m. Monday, the River at Holder was reported at 8.75 feet. This portion of the river is still now at the “minor flood” stage.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on October 10, 2017, proclaiming the week of October 15-22, 2017 as Citrus County Aware for Alzheimer’s Week.

Alzheimer ’s disease and other forms of dementia have become the health issue of our time. Alzheimer’s which is irreversible and currently incurable, afflicts 5 million Americans today. This figure is projected to grow to 16 million by 2050. It kills more than breast and prostate cancers combined.

The Citrus County Commission on Tuesday proclaimed the week of Oct. 15-21 as Citrus County Court Mediation Week. 

Citrus County has been a leader in recognizing and promoting mediation as an alternative to court ligation so that individuals, businesses and neighbors may effectively and efficiently resolve disputes.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday proclaimed Oct. 23-31 as Red Ribbon Week in Citrus County.

The Board of Commissioners and the Anti-Drug Coalition of Citrus County value the health and safety of all our citizens. Substance abuse and bullying is particularly damaging to one of our most valuable resources, our children, and a contributing factor in the three leading causes of death for teenagers – accidents, homicides and suicides.
