CR491 temporary lane closures

The northbound outside lane of County Road 491 will be temporarily closed south of State Road 44 just south of West Laurel Street to install a storm water inlet. 

Daytime closures are scheduled from 9:00AM to 1:30PM on Tuesday, November 28; Wednesday, November 29; and Thursday, November 30. 

Motorists will be directed to the inside travel lane and are advised to use caution in the area and to look for alternate routes.

Region's jobless rate holds steady, Citrus at 4.9 %

OCALA, Fla. (NOV. 17, 2017) – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion region remained unchanged in October at 4.2 percent, but was 1.8 percentage points lower than the region’s rate of 6.0 percent a year ago.
 

Storm debris removal winding down in county

Debris removal in the County is quickly winding down. Please keep in mind there will be only one countywide debris collection.

County storm debris collection should be substantially complete by Thanksgiving. The County will continue to work with the contractor to clean up complaints and citizen concerns regarding incidental damage or missed piles. 

To facilitate the cleanup, we are asking all citizens to follow these guidelines:

- There will be ONE residential debris pick up, which will take 4 to 6 weeks to complete.

Firm awarded $134.6M Suncoast Parkway Construction Project

Lane Construction Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Salini Impregilo, has won the $134.6 million contract for highway construction to build a section of Suncoast Parkway 2, a new highway leading north of Tampa.

The project will involve the construction of 15 bridges as well as the road, drainage and associated work.

Citrus County Commissioner Ron E. Kitchen Jr., District 3

Citrus County Commissioner Ron Kitchen Jr. on Tuesday told fellow commissioners about a Nov. 13 meeting of the Tampa Bay Regional Council to discuss lessons learned from Hurricane Irma.

Kitchen represents Citrus County on the council.

Out of those discussions, the council fomulated possible Legislative priorities to make the state more prepared for future hurricanes. Part of those discussions included hurricane evacuation routes and, Kitchen said, the Suncoast Parkway extension project through Citrus County was also discussed as being a priority.
