Fish kill on Turner Camp RoadIn the wake of recent Withlacoochee River flooding caused by Hurricane Irma, some areas in Citrus County have experienced an increase in incidents of “Fish Kills” and associated odors brought on by decomposing fish.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday was made aware of a fish kill and possible sheen on the water on the Withlacoochee River near the end of Turner Camp Road.

Homosassa game and fish club supports cf student scholarships

(OCALA, Fla.) Feb. 20, 2017 — The Homosassa Game and Fish Club presented a check for $2,356 to the CF Foundation to increase student scholarships.

The club partnered with the CF Foundation in 2005 to establish an endowed scholarship for CF students from Homosassa and Citrus County.

Plantation Inn now official IGFA fish weigh station

Plantation Inn, Crystal River Florida

The Plantation on Crystal River is now home to the only official International Game Fish Association (IGFA) weigh station for more than 400 miles to the north or south on Florida’s West Coast.

Good for far more than bragging rights, the weigh station gives local anglers and guests a chance to have their catch considered for one of IGFA’s nearly 7,000 world records.
