Mobile home burns in Hernando

No injuries were reported during a mobile home fire on Monday in Hernando.
Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue on Friday was dispatched to the structure fire at 7139 N. Nature Trail, where they found a single-wide mobile home with fire and smoke showing.
The structure was fully involved with fire. 

Smoke alarms awaken resident just in time

Smoke AlarmWorking smoke alarms are credited with helping a Dunnellon resicent and her dog escape injury early Monday morning after a fire broke out in their home.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters on Monday were called to the scene of a residential home fire at 2:59 a.m. at 4171 West Ranchetta St. in Dunnellon.

Upon arrival, Engine 9 from Derosa found a double- wide manufactured home 50 percent involved in fire.

Citrus County Sheriff's Fire Rescue responded at 5:18 a.m. to the fire at 6335 S. Tropicana Ave.

Sheriff's Office honors Goodworth at retirement

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and Citrus County Sheriff's Fire Rescue on Friday celebrated Fire Rescue Chief Jim Goodworth for more than 34 years of significant contributions to public safety in the Citrus County community and to his past six years with the Sheriff's Office.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and Fire Rescue on Friday celebrated the early retirement of Fire Rescue Chief Jim Goodworth, and noted his accomplishments during his more than 34 years of service.

Goodworth had previously announced that he would retire on Aug. 4.

Goodworth was well known among members of the county, law enforcement and fire communities for public safety excellence in the Citrus County community, and for his noteworthy track record during the past six years with the Sheriff's Office.

Home heavily damaged by blaze

Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue units were dispatched at 9:33 a.m. on Monday to battle a fire at a home in Inverness.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters arrived at 6263 Iona Lane to find the home about 45 percent involved with fire.

The structure was not occupied when units arrived. Damages to the home were estimated at 50 percent and at 100 percent for smoke damage.

Separate fires damage two mobile homes

Two separate fires, one on July 4 and another on Wednesday, heavily damaged two mobile homes.
No injuries were reported in either fire.
On July 4, firefighters were called out to 6328 S Applebud Terrace in Lecanto. Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived on scene to find a doublewide mobile home 95 percent  involved with fire.
