OCALA, Fla. (June 30, 2016) – Michael Biskie, a human resources consultantwho resides in Ocala, is the new chairman of CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion’s regional board of directors. His two-year term begins July 1.

Sunday storm fells trees in Floral City

A summer storm blew up across Citrus County on Sunday. Floral City was one of those areas hit by the storm, where five trees caused damage to a car and a home.

A large storm passed through Floral City on Sunday, taking down several trees there.

The Citrus County Sheriff's reported that there were five trees down -- one fell on a vehicle and two other trees fell into an apartment halfway down Moonrise Lane.

Citrus County Commissioner Scott Adams

A $4,000 ad inviting the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) community to visit Citrus County drew fire from Citrus County Commissioner Scott Adams.

Adams said he had hundreds of supporters wanting the county to stop advertising to specific groups.

Floral City Trailhead parking lot construction begins

The Citrus County BOCC has continued to add to the amenities for the Withlacoochee State Bicycle Trail. Citrus County Public Works has completed design and has commenced construction on the Floral City Trailhead Parking Lot project.

CCSO practices 'active shooter' drill

A "victim" in the "Active Shooter" drill is transported through the halls of Lecanto High School.

"Interoperability" and "communications" were two of the goals the Citrus County Sheriff's Office was aiming to exercise on Thursday at the Lecanto school complex..

Members of the agency's law enforcement, fire rescue and medical divisions came together to put on a mock drill primarily at Lecanto High School during this summer break.

Scams making rounds in county

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has been receiving calls from residents about scams making their way around the county.
