County extends local state of emergency to cover flooding

Dave DeCarloThe Citrus County Commission on Tuesday extended the local state of emergency it had declared when Hurricane Irma entered the county and inflicted damage in a number of places. It expired today.
 
The hurricane cut a 500-mile swatch across Florida as it entered the state at Miami as a Category 5 storm. 
 

Commissioner Carnahan appointed to National Caucus

Citrus County residents who want to apply for FEMA disaster assistance should know how the process works to get assistance from damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

Below are a few tips to get you started.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday was made aware of a fish kill and possible sheen on the water on the Withlacoochee River near the end of Turner Camp Road.

Halls River Bridge project update set for Sept. 26

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) was scheduled to have an update from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on the Halls River Bridge project at the regular BOCC meeting on Sept. 19.

However, the FDOT cannot be in attendance and the update has been rescheduled for the regular BOCC meeting on Sept. 26.

Meetings are held at the County Courthouse, 110 N. Apopka Avenue, Inverness, FL, and the public is invited to attend.
