Firm awarded $134.6M Suncoast Parkway Construction Project

Lane Construction Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Salini Impregilo, has won the $134.6 million contract for highway construction to build a section of Suncoast Parkway 2, a new highway leading north of Tampa.

The project will involve the construction of 15 bridges as well as the road, drainage and associated work.

Construction accident halts work on Halls River Bridge

A truck interrupted work on Thursday on the Halls River Bridge in Homosassa.

For the majority of the day, the construction-related accident made the bridge completely impassable.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office had to use other resources, such as launching boats from the fire departments, to ensure emergency services were available to those in need. Citrus County Road Maintenance and the construction company worked together to stabilize the incident and return travel to the bridge as quickly as possible.

No injuries were reported in the accident.

Nothing is going to waste during the CR491 road widening project, officially named; County Road 491 Phase I Roadway and Regional Storm Water and Utility Improvements Project. 

Thanks to project contractor Commercial Industrial Corporation (CIC), the project has become a “best practices” for construction debris repurposing.

The Citrus County BOCC has continued to add to the amenities for the Withlacoochee State Bicycle Trail. Citrus County Public Works has completed design and has commenced construction on the Floral City Trailhead Parking Lot project.

We’ve got a few big items for you this week:  House passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, the Military Construction/VA appropriations bill and a significant federal resource package to combat the impending Zika threat.

Citrus Memorial Hospital will soon begin construction on a helipad in anticipation of applying for Level II Trauma Center status this spring.

At 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, hospital security will begin restricting traffic and parking at the front entrance of the Emergency Room. Designated ER parking will be made available in the main hospital parking lot.
