Volunteer center thanks volunteers, sponsors

The Nature Cost Volunteer Center (NCVC) and Retired & Senior Volunteer Program would like to thank all of the volunteers who came out to the Historic Cemetery in Crystal River on Saturday, October 28, 2017 to improve the property by weeding, raking and renewing the mulch around the perimeter of the property.

In total, 47 volunteers were involved in the project. 

Citrus Libraries urge readers to check out digital collection

With more than 7,000 different eBooks and digital audiobooks, there is a diverse variety to choose from.

The digital collection is especially convenient to those who have a busy schedule, have a hard time making it to the library, or who spend a portion of the year outside the state.

There are approximately thirty collection vehicles working daily in Citrus County. Please keep in mind there will be only one countywide debris collection. 

Anglers on Florida’s east coast can help FWC gather red snapper data

Fish and Wildlife Commission logoResearchers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are looking for anglers’ help to capture information about the Atlantic red snapper fishery. 

The recreational season runs Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 10-12 in south Atlantic federal waters. Anglers are limited to one fish per person, per day, with no minimum size limit.

NCVC special-needs drill

RSVP senior volunteer logoThe Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a program of the Nature Coast Volunteer Center (NCVC) is hosting a Special Needs Call-Down Drill. It will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The training exercise is being sponsored in partnership with Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Section.

CF wins awards for public relations, marketing

CF logoOCALA, Fla. (Nov. 4, 2017) — College of Central Florida Marketing and Public Relations projects earned numerous awards in state and regional competitions. 

The Marketing and Public Relations Department at the CF earned eight awards in the Association of Florida Colleges Communications and Marketing Commission Awards of Excellence.

The awards were presented at the AFC Annual Conference in Palm Harbor Nov. 1.
