Road work to begin on W. Roosevelt

West Roosevelt Boulevard from County Road 491 to Forest Ridge Boulevard is scheduled to be milled and resurfaced, beginning Nov. 1.

Work will begin on Nov. 1 should be completed in 60 calendar days not including the up-coming holidays. 

The work will be completed by Pave-Rite, Inc. at a Project cost of $678,663.31. Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is funding 75 perecent of this Project through the Small County Outreach Program.

Adoption fees waived for all dogs available for adoption at Citrus County Shelter

Let’s clear the kennels at the Citrus County Animal Shelter! The Shelter is way over capacity and dogs continue to come into the shelter daily.

In an effort to clear out the kennels and make room for more dogs, we are waiving adoption fees until further notice on all dogs that are currently available for adoption.

Citrus County residents, however, will be required to pay $10 for county registration tag.

County storm debris removal continues

Storm debris across roadDebris removal continues within Citrus County at a very manageable pace.

There are approximately 30 collection vehicles working daily in Citrus County. 

Flood warnings still in effect

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office reported on Friday that the Withlacoochee River at Holder is at 9.03 feet. 
This portion of the River is still at the “moderate flood” stage. 
According to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, we may begin to see the River start to recede, albeit slowly.

Possible flooding seen in county

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Saturday said that signs have been placed indicating possible flooding in Homosassa and Crystal River.

So far, signage is being placed at Sutton and Ozello by county road maintenance due to water.

There was also water over the road at State Park and Seminole (signs being placed there as well), and also the area of NW 19th Court off NW 15th Street in Crystal River. Crystal River public works has already placed permanent signs there.

Hurricane Irma Citrus County relief center open

Citrus County has opened the Hurricane Irma Citrus County Relief Center at the Citrus County Resource Center, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Ct., Lecanto, FL. 34461 with FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance Specialists available to help people register for FEMA assistance.  

The Citrus County Relief Center will be open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, until further notice, including weekends.
