DCF hiring 200 temps to help with emergency Food for Florida program

CLM logoOCALA, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2017) – As a result of Hurricane Irma, the Florida Department of Children and Families is hiring 200 temporary workers for the Ocala call center to support the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Withlacoochee water levels continue to rise

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office reported on Saturday that, due to rainfall and other factors caused by Hurricane Irma, the Withlacoochee River water level continues to rise. 

Water is already reported around and in homes near Istachatta and Trails End Road in Floral City, the CCSO  said, and points to the north, including Arrowhead, are subject to increased water level and potential flooding.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday proclaimed September 2017 as Senior Center Month in Citrus County.

Seniors centers are the first place that Citrus County residents turn to for valuable programs, activities, and access to benefits and services.

Senior centers provide for learning and socialization with peers, and offer tools and resources to help manage personal health and finances, which leads to continued independence.
