FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Poultry Products Produced Without Benefit of Import Inspection
the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert to inform consumers that approximately 6,907 pounds of chicken products produced by Productos Dany, Inc., a Hatillo P.R. establishment, may contain products that have been recalled because they contain previously recalled ingredients.

Expanded Voluntary Recall for Casa Sanchez Foods "Real Guacamole" and to also Include “Spicy Guacamole” Because of Possible Health Risk

Casa Sanchez Foods of Hayward, CA, is voluntarily recalling all "Real Guacamole" and “Spicy Guacamole” products out of an abundance of caution in keeping with the company’s commitment to protect the public health. The recall was necessitated by positive test results for Listeria monocytogenes on two packages out of many samples collected for the U. S. Food and Drug Administration random sample testing program.

Some of this product is beyond the expiration date and is no longer available for salein stores. No illnesses are reported to date in association with the product recall. No consumer complaints have been received about the product. No other Casa Sanchez Foods products are being recalled.  Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause foodborne illness in a person who eats a food item contaminated with it. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea.

Goya Voluntary Recall of Adobo Because of Possible Health Risk

Goya de Puerto Rico is recalling 28 ounces Adobo with Cumin Seasoning and 28 ounces Adobo with Pepper Seasoning because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune system. No illnesses have been reported to date.

661 cases of these products were distributed in Puerto Rico through retail stores. Goya Adobo with Cumin Seasoning is package in 28 ounces plastic jar with green cap with mark "Best by Date 10/18/22''. Goya Adobo with Pepper Seasoning is package in 28 ounces plastic jar with red cap with mark "Best by Date 10/23/22".

Yorgo’s Foods Inc Is Recalling All Flavored and Unflavored Food Products (Hommus; Tahini Sauces; Yogurt Dip, Salads, Tzatziki, Grape Leaves; Taboule) Due to Possible Health Risk

Yorgo’s Foods Inc. of Manchester NH, a family-owned company, started in 1993, is recalling all Greek-style food products it manufactures, out of an abundance of caution, as they have the potential to be contaminated with  Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in pregnant women, young children, frail or elderly people, those with weakened immune systems and in unborn fetuses. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea,  Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled products were distributed to retail stores nationwide. A complete list of the recalled Yorgo’s Foods products and product photos can be found at the end of this Recall Notice. Most of the recalled products were distributed in 8, 12, 16 and 32 ounce plastic cups or 2 and 5 pound plastic bags

Seattle Gourmet Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Almonds In 5 Pound Bags of Dilettante Chocolates Espresso Blend

Seattle Gourmet Foods of Kent, Washington is recalling 127 cases of Costco item # 2335, Dilettante Chocolates Espresso Blend, Espresso Beans in Semisweet, Milk and White Chocolate, because it may contain undeclared almonds.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Dilettante Chocolates Espresso Blend was distributed to Costco Business Centers located in Lynnwood, Washington and Tukwila, Washington, and Costco Northwest located in Salt Lake City, Utah between August 22, 2017 and November 9, 2017.

The product is packaged in a clear plastic bag, net weight 5-pounds and has the UPC 37041 05211.  The affected product is labeled as Dilettante Chocolates Espresso Blend, Item# 2335, Lot Code 12287, and has the Best By 021619.

Nestle USA Initiates Voluntary Recall of Hot Pockets® Four Cheese Pizza Snack Bites Due to Undeclared Allergens

Nestlé USA has initiated a recall of Hot Pockets® Four Cheese Pizza Snack Bites due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product was donated to a charitable organization in Missouri and was not sold in retail. The product contain the known allergens egg, milk, soy, and wheat, which are not declared. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs, milk, soy or wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The frozen triangular-shaped, snack-sized Hot Pocket® item was donated on June 22, 2017 in 600lb totes and may have later been repackaged in resealable plastic bags and further distributed and sold to food banks in Missouri. Consumers who have received or purchased the repackaged product should not consume it. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of receipt/purchase.

Haig’s Delicacies LLC Recalls Lot of Taboule Salad Because of Possible Health Risk

Haig’s Delicacies of Hayward, CA is recalling 342 cases of Taboule Salad because it may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 bacteria (E. Coli O157:H7). E. coli O157:H7 causes a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.

The Taboule Salad was distributed in California through retail stores.

The Taboule Salad is packaged in a 10oz plastic tub with UPC 7-08756-77055-9 as well as a 3-unit multi pack with UPC 7-08756-37055-1 and a 6-lb bulk foodservice bag with UPC 7-08756-77077-1.

FSIS Issues Public Health Alert For Poultry Products Due To Possible Listeria Contamination

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert due to concerns that salads with chicken meat products produced by Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods, a Vallejo, Calif. establishment, may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. A recall was not requested because it is believed that all products are no longer in commerce and are past their “Use by” dates.

Meijer Recalls Select Meijer Bulk Dark Chocolate Products Due to Possible Undeclared Milk Allergen

In cooperation with the GKI Foods LLC recall of dark chocolate products due to an undeclared milk allergen, Meijer is voluntarily recalling select Meijer branded bulk dark chocolate. This recall is an extension of the GKI Foods LLC recall announced on October 27, 2017. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The products were sold at Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin There have been no illnesses reported to date.

Earthbound Farm LLC Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk and Egg in One Batch of Earthbound Farm Organic Chopped Asian Style Salad Kit

Out of an abundance of caution, Earthbound Farm LLC of San Juan Bautista, CA is voluntarily recalling 1,755 cases of the Earthbound Farm Organic Chopped Asian Style Salad Kit with an expiration date of October 24, 2017 and UPC of 32601 95134, because it was discovered that some of the bags contain the dressing/toppings packets for the Southwest Chopped Salad Kit rather than for the Chopped Asian Style Kit. The Southwest dressing contains egg and milk that are not declared as ingredients on the bag of the Asian Style Salad Kit.  A consumer contacted us after noticing the dressing packet declared "contains egg and milk," allergens that are not declared on the label of the Asian Style Salad Kit. The Southwest dressing packets say "Southwest" on them. While no reactions have been reported to date, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to MILK or EGG run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

BrightFarms Announces Voluntary Regional Recall of Produce Due to Potential Presence of E. coli

Rochelle, IL. - BrightFarms is initiating a voluntary recall of packaged produce sold in Roundy's Supermarkets due to the potential presence of E. coli at its Rochelle, Illinois (Ogle County) greenhouse farm.

The affected BrightFarms branded products are sold at Mariano's Markets in Illinois and Metro Market and Pick 'n Save stores in Wisconsin.

Weis Markets Issues Recall For Undeclared Egg Allergen In Store Made BLT Sandwiches - Sandwiches contain egg-based mayonnaise

Weis Markets today said it has issued a recall for its store made bacon, lettuce and tomato (BLT) sandwiches since the product’s ingredient label does not list an egg allergen contained in the sandwich’s mayonnaise. 

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. One customer reported an egg allergy reaction after eating the recalled BLT sandwich. The customer received an EpiPen injection. No hospitalization was required.

Gadget Island, Inc. dba Gear Isle Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Rhino 7 Platinum

Newark, CA, Gadget Island, Inc. is voluntarily recalling Rhino 7 Platinum 5000 capsules, All LOTS, Papa Zen 3300 capsules, LOT# NSS050888, Fifty Shades 6000 capsules, all Lots, Grande X 5800 capsules, all Lots, to the consumer level. FDA analysis has found the products to be tainted with Sildenafil and Tadalafil, which are the active ingredients in two FDA-approved prescription drugs used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), as well as Desmethyl Carbodenafil which is structurally similar to sildenafil. The presence of Sildenafil, Tadalafil and or Desmethyl Carbodenafil in Rhino 7 Platinum 5000, Papa Zen 3300, Fifty Shades 6000, and Grande X 5800, renders them unapproved drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established and, therefore, subject to recall.

Tai Foong Usa Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in Product

TAI FOONG USA of Seattle, WA is recalling Royal Asia Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, because it may contain undeclared egg.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg or egg products run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Individuals who are not allergic to eggs may safely consume this product.

Product was distributed in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Alaska and were purchased exclusively at Costco beginning January 2017.

Royal Asia Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup; Net weight 3.94lb (1.79kg) 63oz; 6 bowl pack.  One allergic reaction complaint has been CONFIRMED to date. The recall was initiated after the product was tested for presence of egg, and was confirmed. Because the packaging does not reveal the presence of Egg the product was immediately pulled from the shelves at Costco and destroyed, all other product was identified and isolated in the cold storage facilities and placed on hold to be properly labeled.

Simply Fresh Foods, Inc. of Buena Park, CA is recalling 272 cases of one specific lot of its 4-4 ounce packages of "San Francisco Seafood Salad Made with Greek Yogurt" bearing a UPC bar code of 47502 19701 because the individual cups inside the carton may be mislabeled as Seafood Salad with Real Mayonnaise and does not declare "milk". The outer carton is correct and has the correct ingredient statement which declares "milk". People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Garden of Life LLC Issues Recall of Baby Organic Liquid Formula

Today, Garden of Life, LLC, is issuing a voluntary precautionary recall of its new supplement for infants, Baby Organic Liquid, because the product, as labeled, includes directions for use that may be misinterpreted. The company is concerned that if not administered precisely following the labeled instructions, the product may present difficulties in swallowing and potentially pose a choking hazard due to the thickness of the liquid.

Genentech Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Three Lots of Activase® (Alteplase)-100 mg Due to Lack of Sterility Assurance of the Sterile Water for Injection

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY), is voluntarily recalling three lots of Activase® (alteplase) 100mg vials, that were co-packaged with Sterile Water for Injection, to the hospital level. The vials of Sterile Water for Injection, manufactured by Hospira Inc., a Pfizer company, and packaged with Activase 100 mg, may be cracked or chipped at the neck of the vial and leaking.
