Florida Governor Rick Scott made an appearance today at the National Guard Armory in Crystal River to honor veterans.

Gov. Scott presented all of the veterans in attendance with the Governor's Veterans Service Medal.

Many veterans were on hand to receive the medal, including many Citrus County Sheriff's Office employees. Speaking with evident sincerity, the governor expressed his gratitude for all of those who have served our country.

Sheriff Mike Prendergast is very passionate about our veterans and was on hand to shake hands and thank everyone there. 

Turkey giveaway, courtesy Church Without Walls

The Church Without Walls on Tuesday handed out free turkeys for the needy as part of their annual gesture.

Helpers included the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, whose Lt. Lambert, Deputy Tewell and some of the Community Crimes Detectives helped out Pastor Doug Alexander at the Church Without Walls.

Floral City shootings leave two men injured

Two people were injured after a Floral City homeowner shot them. At this time it appears the men may have been trying to break into the homeowner's camper (November 20, 2017)

Two people were shot by a Floral City homeowner during what appears to be an attempt to break in to his camper.

The two unnamed suspects were airlifted to Ocala suffering from gunshot wounds.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said that deputies responded to a home on Sunray Lane in Floral City on Monday before 2 pm.

It appeared that the two people had been shot by someone living inside the residence, the CCSO said.
