A truck interrupted work on Thursday on the Halls River Bridge in Homosassa.

For the majority of the day, the construction-related accident made the bridge completely impassable.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office had to use other resources, such as launching boats from the fire departments, to ensure emergency services were available to those in need. Citrus County Road Maintenance and the construction company worked together to stabilize the incident and return travel to the bridge as quickly as possible.

No injuries were reported in the accident.

Shortly after 5 p.m., the CCSO said that the truck that crashed on the bridge has been removed. The county had to wait on Florida Department of Transportation to deem the bridge as not being compromised, and a new barrier was put in place before the bridge can be opened to the public.

Residents are advised that repairs have been made, and the bridge on Hall’s River Road has been re-opened.
