Business damage assessment survey

Businesses asked to identify Irma damage; Survey to help with disaster relief efforts

CLM logoOCALA, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2017) – Businesses damaged by Hurricane Irma in the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion region are encouraged to complete a Business Damage Assessment survey.

The survey will help the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) identify needs and the extent of assistance for impacted businesses.

Department of Homeland Security warns to be on the alert for fraud and scams

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is raising awareness that Hurricane Irma disaster survivors, and their friends and family, should be alert for false rumors, scams, identity theft, and fraud. Although many Americans are working hard to help their neighbors now, during chaotic times, some will always try to take advantage of the most vulnerable.

Withlacoochee River reaches major flood stage

TRILBY, Fla. -- It's been more than a decade since the Withlacoochee River last reached a flood stage of more than 16 feet.

This year has all the markings of the 2004 hurricane season: the Withlacoochee River at Trilby reached major flood stage at 16.84 feet Sunday, Sept. 17. It last reached this level on Sept. 29, 2004.

More than 4,000 people have been asked to leave their homes under a voluntary evacuation, according to a news release from the Hernando County Office of Public Information.

Mobile home burns in Hernando

No injuries were reported during a mobile home fire on Monday in Hernando.
 
Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue on Friday was dispatched to the structure fire at 7139 N. Nature Trail, where they found a single-wide mobile home with fire and smoke showing.
 
The structure was fully involved with fire. 
 

Citrus County schools close for Irma

Citrus County Superintendent of Schools Sandra "Sam" HimmelCitrus County Superintendent of Schools Sandra "Sam" Himmel told county parents that due to Hurricane Irma there will be no school on Friday, Sept. 8 or on Monday, Sept. 11 .
