Veterans Day Parade winds through Inverness

Hundreds of people on Saturday lined the streets of Inverness as the annual Veterans Day Parade wound its way down from Citrus High School and through the city.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office was also represented as the agency paid tribute to veterans from all branches of service.

Anglers on Florida’s east coast can help FWC gather red snapper data

Fish and Wildlife Commission logoResearchers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are looking for anglers’ help to capture information about the Atlantic red snapper fishery. 

The recreational season runs Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 10-12 in south Atlantic federal waters. Anglers are limited to one fish per person, per day, with no minimum size limit.

BOCC proclaims Veterans Appreciation Weeks and Veterans Day

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on October 24, 2017, proclaiming the weeks of October 28 through November 12, 2017 as “Veterans Appreciation Weeks” in Citrus County, Florida and has designated November 11, 2017, as “Veterans Day” in Citrus County, Florida.

Sheriff's Office issues scam alert

Scam Alert signThe Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday said it wants to alert county residents to a scam that appears to be active in our county.

A caller pretending to be with the "Citrus County Warrants Division" is contacting residents and telling them that they have a warrant and they must pay a fine or they will be taken to jail.
