CCSO assisting Hernando in search for missing inmate

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is canvassing the area near U.S. 19 and 98 in Homosassa and near the Hernando County line.

The CCSO is assisting Hernando County Sheriff's Office with trying to locate escaped inmate Joshua Holmes, 35, who was on a work detail at the Northwest Solid Waste Management Facility (landfill) located on Norris Bishop Loop.

Holmes and two other inmates were working under the supervision of Hernando County landfill employees at the time of the occurrence.

Holmes is described as follows:

• White Male
• Height – 5’ 7”
• Weight – 145
• Hair – Balding (brown on sides)
• Eyes – Brown

The CCSO said Holmes was last seen wearing dark-colored underwear, possibly red or dark brown. He took off his striped uniform.

Anyone seeing him is advised that they must not approach him, but to immediately call 9-1-1 with information.

UPDATE: At approximately 6 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to Parsons Road in Brooksville regarding a stolen vehicle complaint. The caller advised his vehicle had been stolen "within the last five minutes."

Deputies, still in the area searching for the escaped inmate, immediately began attempting to locate the stolen vehicle.

They believe the escaped inmate stole the vehicle and left the area.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 1971 Chevrolet C10 pickup truck, blue in color with a Florida license tag: ECYD59. The truck may have damage from crashing through a fence on the owner's property.

Deputies, still in the area searching for the escaped inmate, immediately began attempting to locate the stolen vehicle.

They believe the escaped inmate stole the vehicle and left the area.
