Beverly Hills burglaries believed solved

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Thursday announced they have arrested a man accused of burglarizing two Beverly Hills businesses.

Arrested was Michael Acevedo, 32, also of Beverly Hills, who was charged with burglaries to the New China Restaurant and Hungry Howies.

The arrest was made after investigation into the burglaries, which included initiating the reports, getting good video footage, collecting evidence and identifying a suspect.

Motorcyclist critically injured

A motorcyclist was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after crashing into a utility trailer attached to another vehicle near Homosassa.
 
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the man as Rene Cruz Jr., 26, of Homosassa.
 

Citrus fugitive captured in Manatee County

Jesse Prive, 32, of Floral City

A man wanted in connection with several stabbings in Floral City in the early morning hours on Sunday is now in custody.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday that Jesse Prive, 32, has been taken into custody in Manatee County while in a stolen vehicle.

Prive will face two charges of attempted murder in connection with the Floral City incident, the CCSO said.

Roommate stabs trio, flees

Citrus County deputies are looking for a man said to have stabbed three people in a Floral City home at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.
 
The Sheriff's Office is looking for Jesse Prive, 32, who is now wanted on two counts of attempted murder.
 

Email scam alert issued

The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) has put out a warning to consumers regarding a company posing as the DHSMV and demanding payment for phony citations through email.

This company is not associated with the DHSMV in any way.

13th Annual Kid's Fishing Clinic

Impact fees, not maintenance fees

At a previous commission meeting, we addressed the issue of Impact Fees.

The majority of people who came before the board had issues of maintenance and even our own presentation suggested we use Impact Fees for debt, to pay for previous projects not specifically correlated to what impact fees are supposed to be used for, which is IMPACT.

City firefighter earns state distinction

Inverness, Fla. (December 20, 2016) – In a first of its kind, the City of Inverness Fire Department proudly welcomed Gronn Morgan, as a new volunteer member, and first person in the State of Florida to earn a Firefighter 1 Certificate through the “Grow as You Go” Firefighter 1 program recently launched.
 
This training program is available through the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards & Training (BFST) under the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
