Gorney killer gets two life sentences

This is following his guilty verdicts after his jury trial in August for Murder in the First Degree- Premeditated, Robbery with Deadly Weapon, and two counts of Dealing in Stolen Property.

CCSO looking for missing teen

Robert Tyree

On Nov 24, 2016, Robert Tyree, 14, was reported as a Missing/ Runaway Juvenile to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Robert is 5’4” tall, 100 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen on Nov 26, 2016, by his brother on Van Buren St, Homosassa, Florida. He was seen wearing Mountain Dew colored shorts, a gray shirt and blue/black Nike high top sneakers. He is believed to be in the area of Mason Creek or Heritage Drive.

FDOT open house set for Citrus projects

The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a construction open house regarding improvements to U.S. 19 and replacement of the Halls River Road Bridge in Citrus County on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The open house will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Homosassa Public Library, located at 4100 S. Grandmarch Avenue, Homosassa, FL 34446.

Elderly Homosassa man dies in crash

An 88-year-old Homosassa driver was killed after his vehicle hit a palm tree on Monday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol accident report says that Richard H. Turner, 88, was driving northbound on Suncoast Boulevard near West Green Acres Street in the inside lane when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons.

Fatality found inside burning vehicle

Citrus County detectives are investigating what is being called a suspicious death in Crystal River in which a fatality was involved.

The Sheriff's Office said on Monday that at approximately 3:30 a.m., units responded to 2490 W Sunripe Loop and Sunshine Path in Crystal River after receiving a call about a brush fire.

Man climbs Ozello water tower, but can't get down

Citrus County Fire rescue on Saturday rushed to rescue a man who, after climbing the Ozello water tower, couldn't get back down.

BOCC honors utilities dept. for EPA award
