Sheriff's Office arrests Winter Springs murder suspect

The Citrus County Sheriff's office on Thursday announced the capture of a Del Ray Beach man who was wanted for murder by the Winter Springs Police Department.

The CCSO assisted U.S. Marshals in the apprehension of Michael Friedman, 63, behind the Applebee's restaurant in Crystal River. He was taken into custody without incident, the CCSO said in a brief news release to the media.

County grapples with fire funding

The Citrus County Commission on Tuesday voted 4-1 to proceed with the creation of a special taxing district to help fund fire services in the unincorporated portion of Citrus County.

The Inverness City Council on Monday voted to no longer participate in the county's MSBU, which helps fund personnel and equipment for the county's fire service, which falls under the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Office looking for convenience store robber

A black male entered the Kangaroo Express at 6296 W. Gulf to Lake Highway, Crystal River at 2:45 a.m. and robbed the store.

Citrus County Deputies are actively trying to locate a black male who entered the Kangaroo Express at 6296 W. Gulf to Lake Highway, Crystal River at 2:45 a.m. and robbed the store.

The subject brandished a gun and demanded cash and a carton of "305" cigarettes.

The man is described as a black male, between 5’7” to 5’10” and weighing between 150 to 180 pounds.He was wearing a black hoodie and an orange ski mask. The hoodie has long white or gray draw strings, and a gray outline of the hooded portion.

6 arrested in Inverness meth lab investigation

    Six people were arrested on June 18 in Inverness after a search warrant turned up evidence of meth manufacturing.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Thursday arrested six people after a search warrant revealed evidence of the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The search warrant was served at 490 North Independence Highway in Inverness.

St. Pete teen leads Citrus deputies on cross-county chase

A 16-year-old St. Petersburg teen was arrested on Sunday after leading Citrus County Sheriff's office deputies on a car chase through the county at speeds from 80 mph to more than 115 mph in a vehicle reported stolen on Friday from Pinellas County.

Arrested on felony charges, which are public record, was Allye H. Arroyave.

Incident leads to arrest of bail bondsman, employee

A bail bondsman and his employee on Thursday were arrested and face a number of charges, including false imprisonment, child abuse and kidnapping, stemming from a May 9 incident.
